清補涼 (Qīng bǔ liáng) is an essential treat on Hainan Island, China. Believed to help cool the body in the island's hot climate, this dessert is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Cold coconut milk is a key ingredient in Qing bu liang, lending it a refreshing twist. While the ingredients can vary, typical additions include mango, watermelon, coconut meat or shredded dried coconut, cooked mung beans, red kidney beans, taro, quail eggs, bean jelly, and red jujubes. These elements are combined with brown sugar syrup, ice, and coconut water or milk, sometimes topped with a scoop of ice cream for added indulgence. To capture the refreshing essence of this treat, I incorporated vibrant colors and water textures into the background.
